Additional Information
We appreciate your interest in participating in the Sikh Youth Camp, and would like to bring the following concerns to your attention:
- This camp lasts for 2 weeks. All applicants between the ages of 8 and 18 are expected to attend the entire 2 week session.
- Registration fees include food, lodging and educational materials. Fees for attending the Lohgarh Retreat are $550. However, if the application is received before June 15, fee is reduced to $500. The complete fee is required, along with the application in order to reserve a space. This fee will not be refunded once the camp starts. An additional fee of $50 is required for the camp trip. The fee covers tickets, transportation, and fees.
- It is the goal of the Retreat to help young Sikhs adjust to their environment in America while maintaining their identity as Sikhs. Therefore, the removal of hair and the consumption of alcohol, tobacco and non-prescription drugs will be prohibited by all Retreat attendees and staff. Violation of this rule will result in the dismissal of an attendee without any refund.
- There are numerous health and safety guidelines which all staff and attendees are expected to follow. All these guidelines are for the protection of the staff and the attendees, and will require strict adherence from everybody
attending the Retreat.
- The Sikh Youth Camp instills teamwork and cooperation in young Sikh men and women. In order to do this, there will be high expectations placed upon each individual at the Retreat. While we will try to work with every individual who attends the Retreat to help them advance as Sikhs and as individuals, we reserve the right to send attendees home if we are unable to handle their individual needs.
- Application forms and fees must be returned before space can be reserved. These forms are the only way we will know how to adjust the curriculum and accommodation for the greatest benefit of the attendees.
- All necessary services will be available at the retreat, including laundry. A list of necessary items they should bring with them is enclosed.
- We are planning several outings during the Retreat to provide a break for our attendees and staff during this busy two week session. There will be an additional fee required as well as a signed permission form from a parent in order to provide this service for our attendees.
- The enclosed Waiver form needs to be duly filled and signed by a parent of the camper.
Thank you for your interest in the Lohgarh Retreat. We feel that this will be a positive growth opportunity for you or your child both from an individual and a Sikh perspective and we look forward to having the opportunity to serve you or your children this summer. Please keep this sheet and return the application. If you have any questions about the Retreat, please do not hesitate to call us at 1-866-GUR-SEVA.
